Peace in Pai

Peace in Pai:

Our bus ride to Pai was anything but peaceful. Jess had to get out at one of the stops and throw up because of car sickness, I am surprised I didn't. Our driver was flying and there were so many twists and turns it was hard to not get motion sickness. The ride was about 3.5-4 hours. so terrible! Once we got to Pai we called Dave, Jess'a dads friend from high school who lives here. He said we could stay with him while we were here. Once we called he came and picked us up. Him and his wife came and got us. They were very nice. We got in there car and he drove us to his place.

His place was 30 minutes out of town. On our we passed elephants in the road. It was so amazing. There is an elephant camp right down the road from him so some of the elephants were getting walked in the street.

The pic below was my failed attempt to snap a shot of the elephant.

I don't even know how to put into words how amazing his place was. It took him 9 years to build and fine tune his place. It put is heart and soul into it. He took every detail into account. All the statues around the property he hand painted. I couldn't believe he did all of them, there were so many. He bought the property back in 2003. It was kind of a landfill before. The previous owner who is now the gardener used to just put trash there. Dave built multiple bungalows with stone paths to each bungalow. There were also hot baths at each bungalow some times 2 or 3 it just depended. He also had 2 different libraries. The one library was in a crystal temple. He was out hiking one day and him and his friend came across crystals by the river. They ended up building lifts so they could transport the crystal to his place. He then proceeded to make a crystal temple from it. It was so beautiful. All the stone paths had hindu and Buddhist meanings. He also incorporated a lot of astrological signs around and in the pathways. Jess's and my bungalow looked over some rice fields, the view was so pretty, especially as the sun started to set.

Once we arrived are set our bags down we were like two little kids at christmas. We had no idea before we got there what to expect. Once we got there we felt like we were in a dream it was so great. After we set our bags down we went up to the kitchen and Nok Daves wife set out some home made salsa. It was so delicious! He then drew us some baths. Jess and I had our own baths. They get really hot because they are natural hot springs in the area that they get the water from.
After salsa Jess and I decided to get in the baths. It was such a great moment, sitting in the hot baths with one on the side thats cooler. He also had a shower to get in to cool off. As we sat in the baths, hindu music was playing and he came back and handed us a cold drink. Such a perfect moment Jess and I were in heaven. After a little bit. We went up to the kitchen and Nok made us dinner. We ate and talked about many deep conversations. Dave is so smart he knows everything i swear, jess and I had so many questions. Dave is also a scorpio and went into detail all about scorpios. Dave went into a little background about himself. After a few hours of deep discussion. Jess and I headed in for the night.

Life at the Mystery School, the name of Dave's sanctuary, is so peaceful and relaxing.  Dave is also a teacher in Philosophy and Astrology, so he has students from time staying and learning. He didn't built the place for just to teach, he said mainly for family and friends. While we were there we kinda just did whatever we wanted to do. Wake up maybe take a bath maybe go to the library and read. Really just no worries. It was wonderful I wish we had more time there.

On the second day there we woke up Nok cooked us some delicious banana pancakes with a side of fruit.

We gave Nok a hard time about how she was dressed because she had so many layers on and Ugg boots you would think it was snowing outside when it was about 68-70 degrees haha.

Quick side note about the morning:
We went to go tell Dave breakfast was ready and he was sitting in this full body message chair, with this blanket (he later told us its a magnetic blanket, good for balance or something) he had head phones in, ear stimulators on his earlobes and goggles that have different lights that stimulate the brain waves. Literally so decked out and in deep meditation. Jess and I didn't know what to do we were so confused, but at the same time not super surprised he would be doing that. He must of felt our presence because he took an ear plug out and saw us haha. He was very friendly surprising since we disturbed him during meditation, but he made it up for breakfast after we all ate.

Later on in the day we read a little in the library, then went out to Dave's Nephews Mexican restaurant in town. Dave's nephew has been living in Thailand for a few years now and speaks fluent Thai. He also opened a few restaurants and guest houses that are doing really well. The food we had was really good, so nice for a change in the normal thai food we eat every day. Every thing they make there is from scratch. Delicious! Jess and I wanted to pay but of course Dave and Nok wouldn't allow us to pay for anything. Very nice of them.

After we went on a little ride through town. We went up a mountain to see some water falls. The view there was so pretty on the drive to the waterfall. It was probably a 30-40 minute drive. We saw all the people and cars parked by the water fall and we slowly drove to the car park near it, but then we just turned around.... hahaha Jess and I just looked at each other so confused. We thought we might get out to see the waterfall, but no nope we just headed back to Dave's place. Jess and I couldn't help but giggle in the back seat, such a strange thing.

Pics below I took on our way to the Mystery Water falls haha
We passed some tribal villages along the way

Dave also said they would take us to see the Big Budda, that you can see in town, but we didn't do that haha because we just went back home.

Once we got back to the mystery school, we went into the crystal temple to watch The Big Lebowski. Its an older movie but it was so funny.
Then Jess and I went back to our bungalow. We turned on the stereo system and the sounds of shiva  CD was already in. We listened to it while we journaled.

The next day was the day we were leaving. In the morning we drew ourselves some baths, had breakfast/ lunch, and read a little. Nok also read both mine and Jess's cards for us which was so nice of her and really cool.
Jess has had her cards read twice now on our trip, both times she has gotten really good cards. Saying she will be Famous maybe or the person she marries might be, but regardless she is going to have success.
I have had my cards read twice as well now and both times they talked about a big change happening in my life. Looking for a job and the effects it will have on me. Mainly that I am going to be nervous and stressed about getting a job, but will find one. Eventually I am going to find a job I like and it will bring me a lot of success. i guess only time will tell.

After we had our cards read Nok made us smoothies then Dave took us to the bridge where the bus was going to pick us up. While we waited Daves friend from town was selling her home made coconut ice cream. She gave Jess and me some for free. it was pretty good i must say especially when it is so hot out! The bus finally got us. It wasn't as bad of a ride because we took Dramamine and Nok spoke with the driver to let us sit in the front, Go Nok!

We stayed one more night at the Eagle House in Chiang Mai and in the morning got a taxi to the airport to catch our plane from Chiang Mai to Bangkok.
