Getting to Koh Phangang

Getting to Koh Phangang was definatly not easy or all that fun. We were picked up at 7:30am from our hostel in Phuket. This little van took us and about 6 other people to another bus. The second bus was such a relief because it was much bigger and had A/C. The first one we were all so crowed and had no A/C. No one gave us any information as to when stops would be or how long it would take. We got on only knowing it was heading to Koh Phangang. We ended up being on the Big bus for 7 hours with one stop to get food and go to the bathroom. I pretty much just slept and read the whole time. Thankfully I wasn't that hungry. Jess on the other hand was starving the whole time and so miserable haha. When we finally stopped she got some soup, only to find a fly in her soup. She wasn't very happy but ate it anyways because she was so hungry.

After another few hours on the bus. We stopped again and were told to get off the bus and take our bags. We were clearly no where near a dock so we were confused. The driver told us another bus was coming to get us in 1 minutes. The 15 minutes turned into be more like 45-60 minutes. We started to wonder if were would get to Koh Phangang that day haha. Finally the second bus showed up. This bus was also a nice big bus with A/C. A/C is such a game changer, its to hot without it! Again we got on this bus with no idea when we would be able to get off it. We were on the 3rd bus for about 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Once we finally got off the bus we saw the water and the dock. We waited 30-40 minutes to get on the boat. The boat ride was about 2 hours long. It stopped at Koh Sumai first then Koh Phangang. Once we got to Koh Phangang, it was dark. LONGEST TRIP EVER! It was about 6:30pm.

We then had to find out where we were staying that night. When all we wanted to do was be picked up and dropped off at a nice hotel to sleep. Which ended up happening! We walked to a close 7 eleven. The guest house we were staying at the next few nights was full the night we arrived but came to get us and bring us to a hotel that had availability.
The hotel we stayed at was acturally pretty nice, we had our own room with A/C and a beautful pool.
Because I didn't really eat all day we went to the restaurant attached to get something to eat then went to bed.
We stayed at Baanbusaba Hotel for 2 more nights before packing up our stuff to go the the guest house we origonally planned to stay, Buakao Guest house. Buakao was also nice, same tye of room just a little closer in town. It is also nice that the guy who owns it is from LA. It was great to get his help with suggestions on the area and what not.

Our fist 2 days in Koh Phangang we just kinda laid low because Jess was sick. It was nice to just chill and relax.
Once we moved to the guest house Jess was starting to feel like her usual self again. Full of energy per usual haha. We ventured out a little more. We discovered the food night market! It was amazing! so much great food!
Pad Thai, yummmm!

So far this has become our main food source, because it is cheap and you can get whatever you want to eat.
We also went to some other markets and got accustom to the town we are in. We went to the beach one day. There are many beaches but we choose the north one. We didn't say long. The view was beautiful but there were all these little bugs everywhere. So we decided to try and make it to the beach south of us. However we got distracted with markets and ended up just walking to the beach and heading back to our room.

So far Koh Phangang has been our most relaxed/ lazy destination we have been so far. Next is Chaing Mai, I know we will be go go go once we get there so i dont mind, being a bit of a bum here haha.
Since Jess and I can be divas every now and then we went to Mr. Kim, a travel agent suggested by Mike the owner of our guest house. Mr. Kim hooked us up with a ferry ticket and bus shuttle to Surat Thani airport so we could catch a flight from Surat to Chaing Mai rather than leave on the 7th to go back to Phuket to fly from Phuket to Chaing Mai. We already paid for our flight from Phuket to chaing Mai, but decided that we would rather fly direct from Surat and leave a day later than take the bus to Phuket again. Queen status! haha
